Father

Fathers late arrival at most family ocassions  led us all to believe he was infact a hopi snake priest ….my mother trapped in a complex form of denial …denied this conjecture.”. your father is a very intelligent man   and i wish you would all stop asking questions !”…..we looked at our mother  sat on her favourite chair fuming a benson and hedges …. we then  fixed our gaze at the large man in the doorway  covered with face paint ,a snake in his  mouth  ..dressed in not more than a loin cloth…..  he would sit down  say grace in latin  ….and we would suspiciously consume our repast …kicking amongst ourselves commenced  and coughing would disguise …”Dads a hopi snake priest! ”     mother sensing the mounting tension   with cigarette attached to her lower lip offered to hit us with the wooden spoon unless the charade desisted ..”. your father  is a borderline monomaniac with a high score on the spectrum, accompanied by tendancies of inflated sense of self worth not to mention he suffers from brittle nail syndrome, a snake priest he is not   and thats the last i will hear of it!” .  Father as if  relieved of a great burden a bit like tantalus in greek mythology,  put the snake on the dresser and offered us all seconds … that night under torchlight six children peered through the pages of the britiannica illustrated encyclopedia under medical conditions “brittle nail syndrome “….none of us slept that night …
