Father would shed his skin

Twice a year father would shed his skin ..my elder brother and my self fashioned a large drum and two suitcases from his summer Sheddings and  then took to the road . The accordian was a combination of paters redundant dental implants uncle Elizabeth purple hair cuttings and the remain of corned beef sandwiches used in national schools in Ireland to stunt growth in under 12yrs ..we would head out to the Naas dual carriage way and be busking on the streets of Clonakilty  by june. we would get to Puck fair  in Killorglin Kerry  later that same summer  .Our siblings fashioned fraternal simulacrums from digestive biscuits and SMA milk,   seating us each night at the dining table, phantom forks would whisk away our vittals. Father with his new skin failed to note our obvious docility mother not entirely Christian believed that visitors from Elysian fields were offering her respite from torment with  ethereal mannequin s for children …The drum.of course would disintegrate  by the end of summer so brother and I would return pocketed with fifty pence coins and half melted curly wurlies,  rest assured that Martin Carthy  Christy Moore, Pete Seeger could not rest easy …..
